Motion Processing in Children With and Without Amblyopia
This research is being conducted by Dr Debbie Giaschi.
What the study is about.

To learn more about a developmental eye problem called amblyopia in order to advance its treatment.

Amblyopia (also called lazy eye) is when someone has poor vision in one eye that cannot be improved with glasses.

Who's needed.

Children with and without ambylopia under the age of 11.

Adults with and without amblyopia over the age of 18.

What's involved.

We assess motion perception, depth perception and visual acuity using computer games.

Time committment.

One visit of approximately 1 hour.

Where. BC's Children's Hospital
Other information.

Participants will receive an honorarium for their participation.

All information is completely confidential.

How to get involved.

Patching Therapy in Children with Amblyopia
This CIHR-funded project (Predicting occlusion therapy outcomes for children with amblyopia) is being conducted by Dr. Debbie Giaschi.
What the study is about.

To learn more about the treatment outcomes of patching therapy in children with amblyopia.

Amblyopia (also know as lazy eye) is when someone has poor vision in one eye that cannot be improved with glasses.

Current treatment involves wearing a patch over the unaffected eye in order to improve vision in the amblyopic eye.

Who's needed.

Children aged 4 to 7 years with ambylopia (lazy eye) currently going through patching therapy as well as children without amblyopia aged 4 to 7 years.

What's involved.

We assess motion perception, depth perception and visual acuity using computer games.

Time committment.

Three, 1-hour appointments: before patching begins, after 6 and after 12 months of patching.

Where.

BC's Children's Hospital.

Other information.

Participants will receive an honorarium for their participation.

All information is completely confidential.

How to get involved.

Please call or e-mail the Ophthalmology Research Lab for details.
